Mr Sitoh Yih Pin asked the Minister for Social and Family Development whether the Ministry has plans for adequate childcare and kindergarten facilities to be located within Bidadari estate.

Mr Tan Chuan-Jin: The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) works closely with the Housing Development Board (HDB) to plan for pre-schools in upcoming Build-To-Order (BTO) developments, including Bidadari new town. To better meet the needs of young parents, new pre-schools will have larger capacities and also be completed earlier where possible.

ECDA also works with HDB to integrate pre-schools with the BTO precincts to provide more accessible services to the young families moving into the estate. Centres may also have access to common greens and community facilities such as playgrounds, which provides opportunities for physical and outdoor activities that enhance children’s well-being and development.
