Assoc Prof Tan Kheng Boon Eugene asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs how many persons have been deprived of citizenship under the various provisions in Articles 129 and 130 of the Singapore Constitution since 9 August 1965.
Mr Teo Chee Hean: Since 1987, 16 persons have been deprived of citizenship under Articles 129 and 130 of the Singapore Constitution.
As ICA's records were computerised from 1987, data prior to 1987 is not readily available.
