I wish to make the following factual correction to my speech given during the Second Reading of the Coastal Protection and Other Amendments Bill at the Sitting of 6 March 2026. My speech should read as follows:
The Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (Ms Grace Fu Hai Yien) : The second category will comprise Prescribed Places bound by two boundary lines, the Absolute Protection Boundary on the landward side of the area, and Protection Boundary on the seaward side. These places are known as "Transiently Floodable Areas (Coastal)". These
need to: be protected against permanent flooding but
need not: be protected against transient coastal flooding.
