Mr J.B. Jeyaretnam asked the Minister for Education whether he will table a Paper in Parliament for a full discussion on the Government's plans to overhaul the pre - university education announced in the press on the 29th May 1986 before any steps are taken by the Government to reform the present system.

Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam: The reasons for the changes in the criteria for admission to junior colleges and pre-university centres have been fully explained in the press. There is no need to table a paper in Parliament.
