COVID-19 Pandemic's Impact on Greening Plan for New and Existing Parks

Miss Cheryl Chan Wei Ling asked the Minister for National Development whether achieving the plan for the development of new parks and enhancing existing parks with more vegetation and natural landscapes by the end of 2026 has been affected by the pandemic.

Mr Desmond Lee: We remain committed to achieving our targets to add over 130 hectares of new parks and enhance about 170 hectares of existing parks, by the end of 2026. While some projects may face delays in the immediate term due to manpower constraints and material shortages in the construction industry brought about by COVID-19, NParks will work with its contractors to minimise these delays. In addition, NParks has continued to work with stakeholders to conceptualise and design our new parks during the pandemic, such as by conducting engagement sessions virtually. We will press on with our plans to transform Singapore into a City in Nature.
