Update on Construction of Downtown Line 2 MRT Stations at King Albert Park, Sixth Avenue and Tan Kah Kee

Mr Christopher de Souza asked the Minister for Transport (a) whether he can provide an update on the progress of construction of the Downtown Line 2 stations of King Albert Park, Sixth Avenue and Tan Kah Kee; and (b) whether these stations are on track to being operationalised by mid-2016.

Mr Lui Tuck Yew: Progress has been better than expected. Officers from the Land Transport Authority have worked very hard and innovatively with the new contractors to make up for the delay caused by the insolvency of the original contractor, Alpine Bau. Downtown Line 2 will now be opened on 27 December 2015, instead of first quarter of 2016 as earlier forecast.
