Heavy Vehicle Parking Facilities Managed by Private Operators

Ms Lee Li Lian asked the Minister for National Development what is the rationale of having more than 50% of the total 41,600 heavy vehicle parking lots managed by private operators.

Mr Khaw Boon Wan: There are about 44,000 heavy vehicle parking lots for 35,000 heavy vehicles. Businesses use these heavy vehicles to transport goods, machinery and people. That is why most of the parking lots are found in industrial estates at premises where businesses operate. Naturally, these parking spaces are managed by the private sector.
