Mr Sitoh Yih Pin asked the Minister for National Development whether HDB can rectify the problems of bird droppings caused by the structural design of the sloping roofs of Potong Pasir flats.
Mr Khaw Boon Wan: In some parts of Singapore, birds have gathered on roof tops and ledges. This has given rise to some bird nuisance problems. In Potong Pasir, there are some blocks with sloping roof tops where birds may sometimes rest in the open area between the flat roof and the sloping roof.
To prevent the birds from entering the open area, the Potong Pasir Town Council (PPTC) has provided nettings for a few blocks. HDB will continue to work with the PPTC and their consultant to address the bird nuisance problems.
