Ms Tan Su Shan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether the recent phone spying incidents between the US intelligence service and European leaders have any implications on Singapore's own national security interests.

Mr K Shanmugam: This is a serious issue which impacts on the national security of countries. We have seen the media reports and are following developments closely. However, we will not comment on media reports that we are unable to verify the facts and could be speculative. Nevertheless, MFA has been informed by our security agencies that we continue to keep a close watch on any development that may have security implications for Singapore and we will take appropriate action as needed.
