Breakdown of Newly-Installed Lifts under HDB's Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP)

Ms Sylvia Lim asked the Minister for National Development regarding new lifts installed under HDB's Lift Upgrading Programme (a) what is the rate of breakdown of these lifts within the defects-liability period; (b) whether certain models of lifts have higher breakdown rates; and (c) whether the Ministry finds the rates of breakdown acceptable.

Mr Khaw Boon Wan: The rate of breakdown is below one per month for every 10 lifts installed under HDB's Lift Upgrading Programme during the defects liability period. There is no significant difference in breakdown rates across the various models of lifts. The current breakdown rates are within the performance standards, as specified in the tenders.
