Resignation of Speaker

The Clerk of Parliament: For the record, I have to inform hon Members that on 12 December 2012, Mr Michael Palmer resigned from his seat in Parliament for the electoral division of Punggol East. Hon Members were notified of the resignation of Mr Michael Palmer by me on the same day.

In accordance with Article 46(2) of the Constitution, the seat of Mr Michael Palmer as Member became vacant on 12 December 2012. In accordance with Article 40(4)(b), the office of the Speaker became vacant on the same day. Hon Members shall now elect a person to fill that office.
