TAX REVENUE FROM TOBACCO PRODUCTS

Mr Hri Kumar Nair asked the Minister for Finance how much tax revenue does the Government receive annually in respect of tobacco products in the last three years.
Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam: The Government collected $621 million of excise duty on tobacco products in FY2006, $700 million in FY2007 and $794 million in FY2008. From April to November this financial year, $587 million of tobacco duty has been collected.
