FIRST SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES OF EXPENDITURE FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 1ST APRIL 2008 TO 31ST MARCH 2009

FIRST SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES OF EXPENDITURE FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 1ST APRIL 2008 TO 31ST MARCH 2009:

(Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009): Order read for consideration in Committee of Supply [Allotted Day].

[Mr Speaker in the Chair]:

The Chairman: First Supplementary Estimates of Expenditure for the financial year 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009, contained in Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009.

As there are no amendments, I propose to take the Heads of Expenditure en bloc . I will first take Heads I, K, M, R, T, V and Z of the First Supplementary Main Estimates.

Question, "That the sums stated for the Heads of Expenditure as shown on page 5 of Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009 stand part of the First Supplementary Main Estimates", put and agreed to.

Question, "That the sum of $1,578,946,200 shall be supplied to the Government under the Heads of Expenditure for the public services shown in the First Supplementary Main Estimates of Expenditure for the financial year 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009, contained in Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009", put and agreed to.

Question, "That the sums stated for Heads C, K, O and W as shown on page 8 of Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009 stand part of the First Supplementary Development Estimates", put and agreed to.

Resolution to be reported.

Question, "That the sum of $1,311,399,200 shall be supplied to the Government under the Heads of Expenditure for the public services shown in the First Supplementary Development Estimates of

Expenditure for the financial year 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009, contained in Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009", put and agreed to.

Thereupon Mr Speaker left the Chair of the Committee and took the Chair of the House.

The Minister for Finance (Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam): Mr Speaker, Sir, I beg to report that the Committee of Supply have come to certain resolutions.

First Resolution reported –

"That the sum of $1,578,946,200 shall be supplied to the Government under the Heads of Expenditure for the public services shown in the First Supplementary Main Estimates of Expenditure for the financial year 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009, contained in Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009".

Second Resolution reported –

"That the sum of $1,311,399,200 shall be supplied to the Government under the Heads of Expenditure for the public services shown in the First Supplementary Development Estimates of Expenditure for the financial year 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009, contained in Paper Cmd. 2 of 2009".

Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam: Mr Speaker, Sir, I beg to move, "That Parliament doth agree with the Committee on the said resolutions."
