REVISION OF QUESTION TIME:

(Business Motion):

The Leader of the House (Mr Mah Bow Tan): Mr Speaker, Sir, may I seek your consent and the general assent of Members present to now move a business motion to revise Question Time. Currently, Standing Order 22(1) states that Question Time is one and a half hours from the commencement of a sitting. But in view of the time that was taken for the obituary speech just now, I wish to seek the House's consent to vary this. As there are many more Questions on the Order Paper yet to be answered, I wish to seek the House's consent to allow Question Time to be extended for a period of time equal to the duration of the proceedings on the obituary statement, which is 10 minutes.

Mr Speaker: I give my consent. Does the Leader of the House have the general assent of hon. Members to so move?

Hon. Members: indicated assent .

With the consent of Mr Speaker, and the general assent of Members present,

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolved,

That, notwithstanding Standing Order 22(1), Question Time may continue for up to one and a half hours from its commencement.
