ISLAND-WIDE TRANSPORT SEASON PASSES
22.
Mr Cedric Foo Chee Keng asked the Minister for Transport in light of the introduction of season passes on its routes by SBS Transit, will his Ministry seek to make available to commuters island-wide season passes with SMRT’s and TransitLink’s participation.
Mr Raymond Lim Siang Keat: Our current regulatory approach is not to mandate the operators to come up with such integrated season passes. We have instead adopted an approach of giving operators some leeway to be innovative in coming up with their own customer loyalty schemes, such as SBST's SeasonPass in this case. Such schemes are a business decision of the public transport operators (PTOs), based on their assessment of market requirements. Commuters have indicated that they would like to see an "all-in-one pass" which covers the entire rail and bus system and the PTOs would need to take into account such feedback.
