Mr Darryl David asked the Minister for Home Affairs (a) under what circumstances will the ICA waive the replacement fees of identity cards and passports; and (b) how many of such waivers have been given over the last three years.
Mr K Shanmugam: The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will consider a waiver of the identity card (IC) or passport replacement fee in situations where the loss or damage was due to circumstances beyond the holder's control.
From 2020 to 2022, ICA granted a total of 12,163 and 410 waiver of fees for the replacement of ICs and passports respectively.
