The Chief Minister (Mr D. S. Marshall): Mr Speaker, Sir, Government proposes that we adjourn till Tuesday in order to enable Honourable Members to have an opportunity to study the Address. On Tuesday morning the first business of the Assembly will be to consider a motion to convey our humble duty and thanks to Her Majesty for her Message and our thanks to the Secretary of State for his. Thereafter, Sir, it is proposed that the Assembly consider a motion for the election of the Deputy Speaker and a Selection Committee.
Then the main business will be taken on the motion of thanks to His Excellency the Governor for his Address. On that motion hon. Members will have an opportunity to debate the Address and the policy of the Government. The Government is of the opinion that the debate may well take a whole day at least, but if there is time on Tuesday then the Assembly will be requested to consider a motion for the adoption of the Proclamation extending the period of the Emergency. It is not anticipated that there will be any other business possible to transact by the Assembly within the time at its disposal.
