The Chief Minister (Mr D. S. Marshall): Mr Speaker, Sir, may I seek the indulgence of this House and your permission to make a personal explanation on a matter which occurred yesterday?
Mr Speaker: By all means.
The Chief Minister: Sir, I was guilty yesterday of an epithet that is not compatible with the dignity of this House. Being addressed to my right, you did not hear it, and many of the Members on my left did not hear it. But others did and the Gallery did. I should not like, Sir, to hide behind your ignorance, or to fail in my responsibility to this House. In the circumstances, Sir, I should like to make my unreserved apologies to the House for my action.
