The Chief Minister (Mr Lim Yew Hock): This is not in reply, Sir. The moment of interruption is getting near and as there appears no possibility of the business of today being completed, I would ask the general assent of this Assembly, under Standing Order No. 71, to suspend the debate on this motion so that I can move a motion to enable this sitting to be adjourned to tomorrow, Friday, at 10 a.m. This motion is necessary, Sir, because Friday is not a sitting day. Hon. Members, I am told, are agreeable to sit tomorrow and this motion will enable us to sit tomorrow to complete the balance of the business.

Mr Speaker: Has the Chief Minister the assent of the Assembly?

Hon. Members indicated assent.

The Chief Minister: Mr Speaker, Sir, I am most grateful to the Assembly for the assent. I now formally move,

That at its rising today, this Assembly do stand adjourned till tomorrow, Friday, 7th September, 1956, at 10 a.m.

Mr Chew Swee Kee: I second it.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolved,

That at its rising today, this Assembly do stand adjourned till tomorrow, Friday, 7th September,1956, at 10 a.m.

Mr Speaker: We will now continue with the debate on the Chief Minister's motion.
