Official Report, 9 July 1962, Vol 19, Issue 1 · Open in the reader (summaries, search, filters)
[Mr SPEAKER in the Chair]
The Deputy Prime Minister (Dr Toh Chin Chye): I beg to move,
That the proceedings on the items of business set down on the Order Paper for today be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order No. 1 until 12 midnight.
Question proposed.
Mr David Marshall (Anson): May I rise on a point of explanation?
Mr Speaker: Yes.
Mr David Marshall: I am much obliged. Mr Speaker, Sir, the first three items are introduced today. The Assembly agreed on Friday night that items 4 to 11 should be concluded by Wednesday night. Am I to understand that the Leader of the House will be postponing items 1, 2 and 3 until after item 11, Sir?
Mr Speaker: I have no information as to that. But I think we will first take a vote on the Question which has been put to the House, that is, that the items of business be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order No. 1 until 12 midnight.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That the proceedings on the items of business set down on the Order Paper for today be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order No. 1 until 12 midnight.
Mr Speaker: Any further business motion?
Dr Toh Chin Chye indicated in the negative.
