DEATH OF MEMBER (Announcement by Mr Speaker)

Mr Speaker: I wish to take this, the first opportunity which has presented itself of referring to the death of Inche Ahmad bin Ibrahim, the Minister for Labour and Member for Sembawang, which occurred on the 21st of August, 1962.

On the 22nd of August, 1962, on behalf of this Assembly, I addressed a letter to his widow in the following terms:-

I desire, on behalf of the Legislative Assembly, to express to you and members of your family, with great regret and with very deep sympathy, our expression of the sense of loss the Assembly has sustained at the sad passing of your husband.'

In accordance with the law, I duly acquainted His Excellency the Yang di-Pertuan Negara of the resultant vacancy in this Assembly.
