Mr Ng Yeow Chong asked the Minister of Defence, in view of the demolition of the Minto Road Community Centre and the imminent demolition of the Beach Road Community Centre, whether the Government has any plans to build a new community centre in the area.

Mr Lim Kim San: Negotiations have begun with the Head of Urban Renewal for a site within the present Housing Board project bounded by Sumbawa Road, Beach Road, Crawford Street and North Bridge Road. The prospects of obtaining such a site for the construction of a new community centre appear favourable.
