[Mr Speaker in the Chair]
Mr Speaker: I have to inform hon. Members that I have received a complaint in writing under the provisions of paragraph (c) of Standing Order 92 (7) from Mr P. Selvadurai, Member for Bukit Panjang, alleging a breach of privilege of Parliament. The complaint refers to an editorial appearing in the issue for the 7th November, 1967, of the Sin Chew Jit Poh, a daily newspaper in the Chinese language.
Having considered the matter under the provisions of that Standing Order, I was satisfied that parts of that editorial, which is the subject matter of the complaint, prima facie affect the privileges of Parliament and that the complaint has been raised at the earliest opportunity. Accordingly, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Orders, I have referred the matter to the Committee of Privileges.
