Inche Rahmat Bin Kenap asked the Minister for Defence whether some Police officers were interrogated in investigations following the arrest and detention of certain persons for activities connected with illegal Chap Ji Kee operators, and the number of such officers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, following the arrest and detention of 14 men under the Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Ordinance for activities connected with illegal Chap Ji Kee operations, certain information came to light which merited further investigation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau. In consequence of this five police officers and two detectives were questioned by the Director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau. Action will be taken against anyone, no matter whether he is a police officer or not, if evidence is adduced against him of corruption.
