[Mr Speaker in the Chair]
Mr J. F. Conceicao asked the Minister for Law and National Development if the Housing and Development Board authorities will consider providing some lighting during day-light hours for common internal corridors in Housing and Development Board housing blocks.
The Minister for Law and National Development (Mr E. W. Barker): Mr Speaker, Sir, all lights along the common corridors and stair-cases of Housing and Development Board flats are controlled by time switches. They are switched on automatically at sunset and are switched off automatically at sunrise. In order to provide some lights during the day for internal corridors, re-wiring on a substantial scale is required. This would be costly. However, the Board will consider providing some lights in some internal corridors which have very poor natural light.
