MOTOR INDUSTRY COMPLEX AT KALLANG BASIN (Development of)

Encik Abdul Aziz Karim asked the Minister for Law and National Development if the Housing and Development Board will consider developing an appropriate number of motor industry complexes and if such a complex can be developed at Kallang Basin, after taking into consideration that the industry is firmly developed at and around Serangoon Road, Lavender Street and Jalan Besar.

Mr Ho Cheng Choon (for the Minister for Law and National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Housing and Development Board will be developing in each New Town some motor repair garages to serve the motorists. The development of suitable complexes to resite motor garages in the Central area, including the areas around Serangoon Road, Lavender Street and Jalan Besar, is being looked into. A suitable site in Kallang Basin will be selected for this purpose.
