Mr P. Govindaswamy asked the Minister for Culture if the Anson Community Centre is affected by urban redevelopment and where the alternative site for the Centre will be.

The Minister for Culture (Mr Jek Yeun Thong): Mr Speaker, Sir, the answer is yes, the Anson Community Centre will be affected by urban redevelopment. However, the plan has not yet been finalised and the Urban Redevelopment Authority is not able to tell when the community centre will be affected and where the alternative site will be. The Member for Anson will be informed when the site is known, and his views will be sought when the time comes.

Mr P. Govindaswamy (Anson): Mr Speaker, Sir, when will the Minister for Culture ask the Minister for National Development to get a place? When will we get it? The Minister for Culture should insist on it.

Mr Jek Yeun Thong: Sir, when a site is available, the Member will be informed of it.

Mr P. Govindaswamy: Sir, when will we get another site?

An hon. Member: As soon as possible.
