SIN MING INDUSTRIAL ESTATE (Request for Community Centre)

Mr Ang Nam Piau asked the Minister for Culture and Science and Technology whether it is planned to build a community centre near the Housing and Development Board flats at Sin Ming Road.

The Minister for Culture and Science and Technology (Mr Jek Yeun Thong): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Member for Thomson must be referring to the Sin Ming Industrial Estate which, according to the information provided by the Housing and Development Board, has about 1,170 units of residential flats. In view of the small population size and the availability of three existing centres in the Thomson constituency which are within 1.6 km from the Estate, a new centre has not been planned for this area.
