RADIO AND TELEVISION SINGAPORE (Conversion into statutory board)

Mr Ang Nam Piau asked the Minister for Communications and Acting Minister for Culture if he will consider setting up Radio and Television Singapore as a statutory body.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Culture (Dr Ow Chin Hock) (for the Minister for Communications and Acting Minister for Culture): Mr Speaker, Sir, the answer is yes. In fact, the Government has agreed to the establishment of Radio and Television Singapore as a statutory board. Legislation will be introduced as soon as possible to establish the new Board.
