HDB ONE-ROOM FLATS (Replacement of communal bin chutes with individual units)

[Mr Speaker in the Chair]

Mr Liew Kok Pun asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board plans to replace the communal bin chutes with individual units in some of the one-room housing blocks in Boon Teck Constituency.

The Minister for National Development (Mr Teh Cheang Wan): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Housing and Development Board has no plans to replace the communal bin chutes with individual units. It would be very costly and technically difficult to do so. Besides, towards the end of this decade when the demand for one-room flats is less, these buildings may be demolished or converted to larger flats.
