The Minister for Law (Mr E.W. Barker): Sir, I beg to move the Motion* standing in my name as it appears on the Order Paper.

  • The Motion reads as follows: That, notwithstanding the Standing Orders,--

(1) an additional day, namely, Tuesday, 16th March, 1982, be allotted for the debate on the motion for approval of the financial policy of the Government for the financial year 1982/83 moved by the Minister for Trade and Industry on 5th March, 1982; and

(2) the allotted days named by the Minister for Trade and Industry for discussion of the Main and Development Estimates for the financial year 1982/83 in Committee of Supply be, as a consequence, altered to 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th March, 1982.

Sir, Standing Order 84 (3) provides for a one-day debate on the Budget which begins soon. I doubt whether one day will be enough. So, in case we cannot wind up the debate today, I beg to move that an additional day, namely, tomorrow, be allotted for the debate.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolved,

That, notwithstanding the Standing Orders, -

(1) an additional day, namely, Tuesday, 16th March, 1982, be allotted for the debate on the motion for approval of the financial policy of the Government for the financial year 1982/83 moved by the Minister for Trade and Industry on 5th March, 1982; and

(2) the allotted days named by the Minister for Trade and Industry for discussion of the Main and Development Estimates for the financial year 1982/83 in Committee of Supply be, as a consequence, altered to 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th March, 1982.
