[Mr Speaker in the Chair]

The Clerk having read the Order of the Day -

Mr J.B. Jeyaretnam (Anson): Mr Speaker, Sir, on a point of clarification.

Mr Speaker: On what proceeding? On what the Clerk has just said?

Mr Jeyaretnam: I should have risen before he read it. May I raise it now?

Mr Speaker: On what?

Mr Jeyaretnam: It is about the question that I asked yesterday at Question Time.

Mr Speaker: But, Mr Jeyaretnam, yesterday's business is finished. It is over.

Mr Jeyaretnam: I am aware of that, Mr Speaker. But I see under Standing Orders that I could have asked for my question to be stood over to today if I had asked you before 3.30 p.m. Unfortunately, I forgot to do that. I only had time to ask one supplementary question of the Minister of State. I have a number of other supplementary questions and I am asking for your indulgence to put them today.

Mr Speaker: This is contrary to the Standing Orders, Mr Jeyaretnam. I suggest that if you have any more questions to ask on a particular subject, you raise them in the form of another question for another occasion.

Mr Jeyaretnam: As you please, Sir. But I have asked for your permission.

Mr Speaker: Thank you.
