Mr M.K.A. Jabbar asked the Minister for National Development why the old and faulty lifts in Telok Blangah Crescent have not been replaced in spite of repeated representations ma de by residents to the Housing and Development Board officials.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, the Housing and Development Board plans to replace a total of 160 old and problematic lifts in its various housing estates with priority given to older lifts which are most prone to breakdown. The 66 problematic lifts in Telok Blangah Crescent are, on average, about 10 years old. They are scheduled to be replaced from December 1984. Replacement work will take six to seven months.
