Ms Joan Pereira asked the Minister for Health (a) what is the current percentage of doctors vaccinated with (i) mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and (ii) non-mRNA COVID-19 vaccines respectively; (b) what is the current percentage of other healthcare professionals vaccinated with (i) mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and (ii) non-mRNA COVID-19 vaccines respectively; and (c) how is the Ministry ensuring that those on the frontlines are vaccinated for their own safety as they encounter many patients who may have COVID-19.
Mr Ong Ye Kung: Within the public healthcare institutions 1 (PHIs), approximately 99% of all staff were fully vaccinated 2 with either mRNA or non-mRNA COVID-19 vaccines 3 as of 22 October 2021. About 99% of doctors, dentists, nurses and pharmacists are vaccinated. About 98% of staff in all other groups are vaccinated (see Table 1).
Vaccination was prioritised for healthcare workers when the mRNA vaccines were first made available in Singapore. COVID-19 vaccine booster shots were also extended to the healthcare workers after first being introduced for the seniors.
Note(s) to Question No(s) 37:
1 Includes public acute hospitals, medical and specialty centres, polyclinics, and cluster-run community hospitals.
2 An individual is considered vaccinated if he/she (a) has been fully vaccinated, that is, received the appropriate regimen of World Health Organisation Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) vaccines including their respective duration post-vaccination for the vaccine to be fully effective and (b) had their vaccination records ingested in MOH’s IT systems. Nonetheless, the figures reported for public healthcare institutions were based on clusters’ self-reported and unaudited data as of 22 October 2021, 12 pm.
3 Data for the breakdown of percentage of healthcare professionals vaccinated with mRNA and non-mRNA vaccines are not available. However, majority of the staff would have been vaccinated with mRNA vaccines.
