CPF CONTRIBUTION CEILING (Implementation of raise)

Mr Chiam See Tong asked the Acting Minister for Labour whether he intends to implement the announcement made in July 1985 of the Government's intention to raise the ceiling of Central Provident Fund contribution from the current $6,000 to $7,000 in July this year.

The Acting Minister for Labour (Mr Lee Yock Suan): Mr Speaker, Sir, my Ministry has already announced that the current salary ceilings on CPF contributions in the private and public sectors will be frozen at their existing levels in view of the present economic conditions.
