Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister for Communications and Information what is the progress of the Mass Rapid Transit system in respect of Buona Vista Station and whether there will be any provision for taxi stands or bus terminus for shuttle service.
Dr Yeo Ning Hong: Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, structural work on the Buona Vista station has been completed. Architectural works are half completed and electrical and mechanical works have just started. Buona Vista station which is along the MRT line from Yio Chu Kang to Clementi is expected, as I have indicated a few days earlier, to be operational by April 1988.
Taxi stands will be provided at the Buona Vista station. The HDB will also be building a bus interchange next to the station. This is expected to be completed by the end of 1988. In the meantime, a temporary bus interchange will be built by the HDB to service the station when it opens.
