Mr Goh Choon Kang asked the Acting Minister for Health whether his Ministry will consider building a community hospital in Serangoon New Town.
The Acting Minister for Health (Mr Yeo Cheow Tong): Sir, there are no plans at present to build a community hospital in Serangoon New Town.
As I had stated in this House on 25th March 1986, my Ministry plans to build two community hospitals during the next 6 to 7 years. The first community hospital will be built in Ang Mo Kio New Town.
As the concept of a community hospital is a new one, my Ministry would like to review the position after the initial years of operation before building the second in the early 1990s. The exact location has not been decided yet.
