Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for National Development what are the development plans for the reclaimed land at Pulau Tekong Besar.
Dr Lee Boon Yang (for the Minister for National Development): Sir, the reclaimed land at Pulau Tekong Besar is being used by the Ministry of Defence for training purposes. It will be used by MINDEF until such time as it is required for other developments. Possible uses in the long-term are industry, seaport and related development such as power station and utilities. It is not envisaged that there would be a need to put Pulau Tekong Besar to more intensive urban uses for some time. The future use of this island can therefore be further reviewed. Its future use would be the subject of further study by the Concept Plan Review Team.
