YISHUN AVENUE 1 (Opening of and extension to Mandai Road)

Dr Koh Lip Lin asked the Minister for National Development (a) when will the section of Yishun Avenue 1 from Yishun Avenue 4 to Sembawang Road be open to traffic; and (b) when will the extension of Yishun Avenue 1 to Mandai Road be completed.

Dr Lee Boon Yang (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the section of Yishun Avenue 1 from Yishun Avenue 4 to Sembawang Road is currently under construction and is expected to be open to traffic by July 1989.

Tender for the extension of Yishun Avenue 1 from Sembawang Road to Mandai Road will be invited in May 1989. The extension is expected to be completed by the end of 1990.
