Mr Peter Sung: To ask the Minister for Community Development whether he will raise the subsidy for childcare.

Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon (Yuhua): Question No. 4, please.

The Minister for Community Development (Mr Yeo Cheow Tong): Sir, the current subsidy for childcare centre fee was fixed in 1987, six years ago. My Ministry is now reviewing the childcare subsidy scheme. I expect the review to be completed soon.

Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon: Sir, I would like to know what is the amount of increase and when will it be implemented. I would also like to ask whether the Minister will consider giving childcare subsidy to parents with a fourth child.

Mr Yeo Cheow Tong: Sir, we are still in the midst of the review. So I would not be able to tell the Member how much we are considering. I will ask the officials to bear in mind the request about including the fourth child.
