Mr Low Thia Khiang asked the Minister for Communications whether he foresees the need for Singapore to have eight-digit postal codes in the future.
Mr Mah Bow Tan: Under the new 6-digit postal code system, there are 108,000 postcodes in use. This system can provide up to 1 million postcodes. The number of postcodes required by year 2030 is estimated to be 360,000. As such, I do not foresee a need for an 8-digit postcode.
