[Mr Speaker in the Chair]

Mr Wong Kan Seng: Mr Speaker, Sir, before we suspended the sitting, we said that we would give time to Mr Ling to study the text of Mr Francis Seow's speech. He is still not back here yet. Actually, we are eagerly looking forward to his views.

May I seek your consent and the general assent of Members present to move that the proceedings on item No. 1 today be exempted from the provision of Standing Order No. 45 in so far as it is necessary to enable hon. Members to speak more than once to any question?

Mr Speaker: It is an unusual request. But in view of the circumstances, I give my consent. Do Members of the House give their general assent for the Leader to move the motion?

Hon. Members indicated assent.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolved,

That the proceedings on item (1) on the Order Paper today be exempted from the provision that no Member shall speak more than once to any question laid down in paragraph 3 of Standing Order No. 45 - [Mr Wong Kan Seng].
