Mr Ahmad Mohd Magad asked the Minister for National Development if there are any plans in the near future to sell by tender or otherwise, the shophouses located at Block Nos. 440 to 446 in Pasir Ris Central.

Mr Koo Tsai Kee (for the Minister for National Development): Sir, there are altogether 72 shops (including four eating establishments) at Blks 440 to 446 Pasir Ris Central. Of these, 25 shops (including two eating establishments) at Blks 442, 443 and 444 have been sold under the Sale of Tenanted Shops Scheme in May 1990. The remaining 47 shops (including two eating establishments) are under rental.

HDB has no immediate plans to sell the rental shops at Blks 440 to 446 Pasir Ris Central. However, HDB will take note of the shopkeepers' interests and the Member of Parliament's concern in purchasing their shops.

Mr Ahmad Mohd Magad (Pasir Ris): Sir, if there are no immediate plans, are there plans at all to sell those remaining shops at Pasir Ris Central?

Mr Koo Tsai Kee: Sir, HDB reviews the sale of tenanted shops to sitting tenants throughout the island. When the plans for the sale of these shops in this region are more concrete, we will approach the Member of Parliament and get his feedback.
