CANTEEN STALLS IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

Dr Teo Ho Pin asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence whether his Ministry will consider reducing the rental for canteen stalls in MINDEF premises (including army camps) as stallholders are experiencing a slowdown in businesses.

Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam: There are presently more than 240 canteen operators in MINDEF premises. Most of the operators pay less than $300 per month per stall. Our rental rates are reasonable compared to rates elsewhere. Nevertheless, MINDEF will monitor the situation and review the rates if necessary.
