Mr Shriniwas Rai asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider setting up an Upper House of Parliament comprising non-elected members.

The Minister for Home Affairs (Mr Wong Kan Seng) (for the Prime Minister): Our unicameral Parliament has worked well. There are already nine nominated non-elected MPs in this House. There is no need to set up an Upper House comprising non-elected Members to oversee the work of the elected Representatives.
