Ms Ng Ling Ling asked the Minister for Transport (a) what are the criteria to determine if a road within a private estate with landed homes is to have a single continuous white line, broken white line or no line at all; and (b) what is the proportion of private estate roads in Singapore that have a single continuous white line, broken white line and no line respectively.

Mr Ong Ye Kung: In determining the extent of parking restrictions to introduce, LTA engages closely with Advisers, grassroot leaders, and residents. Our over-riding consideration is to ensure roads are safe and traffic is smooth. However, LTA does not maintain data on the proportion of roads in private estates that have a single continuous white line, broken line and no lines.
