Land Area Set Aside for Public and Private Housing

Mr Png Eng Huat asked the Minister for National Development as a percentage of the land area of Singapore, what is the total area used for public housing and the total area used for private housing.
The Senior Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for National Development (Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman) (for the Minister for National Development): Mdm Speaker, about 7% of Singapore's total land area is allocated to public housing. Private housing occupies another 7%, largely in areas zoned for low-rise and low-density land use.
Mr Png Eng Huat (Hougang): Is the 7% based on 2010 data that were released recently?
