Mr Lim Biow Chuan asked the Minister for Transport if he will provide data on traffic speeds that had occurred for the three-month period prior to the imposition of ERP at New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street and South Bridge Road.
Mr Raymond Lim Siang Keat: Before the implementation of the ERP gantries along the Singapore River Line, traffic speeds across the three ERP gantries in the southbound direction and across the two ERP gantries in the northbound direction were below the lower threshold speed of 20 km/hr from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm on weekdays, reaching as low as 18 km/hr. The ERP was imposed to ensure that speeds on these roads can be restored to the optimal speed range of 20-30 km/hr.
