Bill considered in Committee.

[Mr Speaker in the Chair]

Clauses 1 and 2 ordered to stand part of the Bill.

Clause 3 -

Mr Nair: Sir, this clause provides for the appointment of a Registration Officer and the setting up of Registration Offices. I would like to draw the attention of the Chief Secretary, Sir, if I may, to the fact that the people living in the rural areas are, at the moment, encountering considerable difficulty in coming down to the headquarters of the registration centre. I would like the Chief Secretary to look into the matter of setting up more registration centres in the rural areas. It should not be entirely left to numbers of people to go to the registration centre. I hope and believe that he will look into it as early as he can.

Mr Goode: I am grateful, Sir, to the hon. Member for his helpful suggestion, and I will certainly look into it. I fully support the suggestion that we should, wherever possible, try and take the administration to the people instead of making the people come to us.

Question put, and agreed to.

Clause ordered to stand part of the Bill.

Clause 4 ordered to stand part of the Bill.

Bill reported, without Amendment.

Third Reading

Mr Goode: Sir, I beg to move, "That the Bill be now read the Third time."

Question put, and agreed to.

Bill accordingly read the Third time.
