[Mr Speaker in the Chair]
Mr Lee Kuan Yew asked the Chief Minister whether the Government intends to take steps to ensure that legislation regarding qualifications of candidates for elections to the Legislative Assembly, City and District Councils, will make provision for employees of the Crown in the United Kingdom as distinct from the Crown in the Colony of Singapore to stand for elections.
The Chief Minister (Dr Lim Yew Hock): Yes, Sir.
Mr Lee Kuan Yew: When does the Chief Minister expect to introduce such amending legislation - before or after the District Council elections?
The Chief Minister: Before the District Council elections.
Mr Lee Kuan Yew: And when will that be, Sir?
The Chief Minister: At the June sitting.
